HISTORY - This is a picture is one of the earlier Mini Cooper S which had the 1071cc engine that was subsequently replaced by the 1275cc engine with the internal pull string door openers, sliding windows and floor headlight dipping switch. It is considered an icon of 1960s British popular culture. Its space-saving transverse engine, front-wheel drive layout – allowed 80% of the area of the car's floor pan to be used for passengers and luggage. In 1999, the Mini was voted the second-most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T, and ahead of the Citroën DS and Volkswagen Beetle.
